Realtek today announced the official release of MCP (Model Context Protocol)-based development services for the Ameba platform. By adopting this open standard, the Ameba development environment now integrates official documentation access with local toolchain invocation, allowing AI programming tools to participate in the complete workflow—from code modification to hardware validation.

MCP (Model Context Protocol), introduced by Anthropic, is an open standard designed to define how AI agents interact with external tools and data sources. Based on this protocol, Realtek has implemented two dedicated services for Ameba developers: Documentation MCP and SDK Development MCP.

The Documentation MCP service connects directly to Realtek’s official technical knowledge base, covering chip datasheets, SDK documentation, API references, and example code. Through this service, MCP-enabled AI coding tools can retrieve authoritative information in real time during development, ensuring that generated code aligns with the current SDK version and improving both accuracy and efficiency.

The SDK Development MCP service runs locally within the developer’s environment, enabling AI tools to invoke build, flashing, and serial monitoring utilities in a standardized manner. After registering the MCP service, code editing, firmware building, flashing, and runtime log retrieval can be incorporated into a continuous execution chain—delivering a more seamless development experience. All operations are executed locally; proprietary source code does not need to be uploaded to any external third-party cloud, ensuring a secure and controlled development environment.

In addition, Realtek provides a web-based AI chatbot as a human-accessible entry point to the documentation service. The chatbot shares the same official knowledge base as the Documentation MCP, supporting quick information lookup and technical Q&A for developers.

With the launch of MCP services, Realtek integrates its official knowledge framework and local development tools into a unified architecture. AI evolves from a code suggestion assistant into an execution-capable collaborative tool within the development process. The service is compatible with mainstream AI coding environments, including Claude Code, Cline, Cursor, and Continue, delivering more efficient and intelligent development support for Ameba developers.
